Colin Turkington Confirms He Won’t Compete In the 2025 BTCC Season

This week, our Brand Ambassador and four-time BTCC champion confirmed that he would not be competing in the BTCC in 2025.

In his statement, Colin said:

“I know this won’t be the news that so many are waiting for, but today I can confirm I will not be competing in the BTCC in 2025. There is not one single reason for this, simply a combination of factors and feelings that has helped me make this decision. For now, I don’t know if that is it for good – but I look back with huge pride at the amazing career I’ve had since debuting as a fresh-faced teenager from Northern Ireland in 2002. I cannot imagine having sacrificed any more or working any harder, leaving me with absolutely no regrets. Sustaining the highest level of performance and consistency and winning for the teams I’ve raced for is what’s driven me and the successes I’m most proud of.”

At FUEL, we are incredibly proud to have sponsored Colin for 10 incredible years of racing. Watching his journey unfold has been a privilege, from his early successes to becoming one of the most accomplished drivers in BTCC history. Our connection with Colin dates back to 2014, when he took time out of his busy racing schedule to help us launch FUEL at an exclusive VIP event, where he went head to head with our guests on the Scalextric track, a slightly smaller track than he’s used to!

The following year, in October 2015, we officially announced our sponsorship, recognising the synergy between Colin’s racing career and our own core values. We were delighted to play our part in supporting Colin’s continual success, something that remained constant until today.

As part of our partnership, we worked closely with Colin to provide him with the IT infrastructure he needed to excel, from setting up the hardware and platform for his online merchandise store to delivering cutting-edge technology and IT support – both at his admin base and on the road across the UK. In return, our branding was proudly displayed on Colin’s race suit, helmet and his infamous “FUEL Can”, his source of hydration on race days.

One of the most memorable moments in our partnership came in 2018, when Colin overcame a challenging season, both on and off the track, to claim his third BTCC title. Just a year later, he made history again, securing his fourth championship and claiming his place in history as one of BTCC’s greatest drivers.

In 2023 when we ran a competition in collaboration with Colin Turkington as part of our 30th year celebrations. Through our partnership with Colin, we launched a competition offering the ultimate VIP BTCC package for two people. Our lucky winner was Graham Ward, who brought his daughter along to soak up the excitement at Oulton Park on 17th and 18th June 2023, enjoying exclusive BMW VIP passes, team garage access, a pre-race grid walk, and a special meet-and-greet with four-time BTCC champion Colin Turkington. It was a fantastic way to mark our partnership and give back to our social media followers.

Paul Trouton, Founder and CEO of FUEL, said:

“Thank you Colin, Louise, WSR and the entire Team Turkington for being such a wonderful ambassador for FUEL. The years have flown by, and the racing was always exciting. 2025 in the BTCC will not be the same—it has lost something special—but this ending opens doors to many other interesting possibilities. Looking forward to 2025 and being part of the next chapter with you. Onwards and upwards.”
