SAP Partner Summit 2026: An Exciting Outlook for SAP Business One

The FUEL team recently attended the SAP Partner Summit in Amsterdam, returning with valuable insights into the future of SAP Business One, exciting developments in AI and details of SAP’s long-term commitment to the solution.

Held at RAI Amsterdam from 19–21 October, the SAP Partner Summit brought together SAP partners, technology specialists and industry leaders from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa to explore the latest innovations, product developments and future direction of the SAP portfolio.

With a programme of keynote presentations, technical sessions, product demonstrations and networking opportunities, the event provided an opportunity for our team to hear directly from SAP about its plans and the technologies shaping the future of business software.

A central theme throughout the summit was SAP’s vision for the Autonomous Enterprise, using AI, connected data and intelligent automation to help businesses work more efficiently and make better decisions.

For our team, the most encouraging developments were those surrounding SAP Business One, particularly the progress SAP has made in modernising the platform and preparing it for the next generation of business technology.

The future of SAP Business One

One of the clearest messages from the summit was SAP’s continued commitment to Business One as a core part of its product portfolio.

SAP Business One remains the solution SAP sees small and medium-sized businesses using to manage their operations, with opportunities to transition into the wider SAP product portfolio as their requirements grow and become more complex. Importantly, SAP Business One continues to demonstrate strong sales performance and excellent customer retention through annual renewals, reinforcing its position as an established and trusted ERP solution.

There was also a clear sense that SAP has listened to feedback from its partners and customers. Significant work has gone into modernising Business One, bringing it more closely into alignment with the wider SAP technology portfolio and ensuring it remains relevant for years to come.

This was a particularly positive takeaway from the summit. SAP Business One appears to have strong support from SAP management, a clear development roadmap and considerable potential for further innovation.

A Modern, Web-Based Future for SAP Business One

A major focus of recent SAP Business One development has been the continued evolution of the Web Client.

SAP’s long-term vision is for the Web Client to become the main, modern point of access for users, offering a more flexible and accessible way to work with SAP Business One. Considerable progress has already been made, with continued improvements to functionality, dynamic reporting and the overall user experience.

Further enhancements are bringing more of the traditional SAP Business One functionality into the browser, including additional process wizards that help users complete more complex tasks.

For businesses, this means a more consistent and modern experience, easier access to information and less reliance on traditional desktop applications for day-to-day activities.

SAP is clearly investing considerable effort into ensuring the Web Client can support the full range of business processes that customers depend on.

AI Becomes an Integral Part of SAP Business One

Perhaps the most exciting developments discussed at the summit were the significant advances in Artificial Intelligence. Rather than treating AI as a separate add-on, SAP is working to make AI compatibility a native part of the SAP Business One experience.

By utilising SAP AI Core technology, already used across its wider enterprise product portfolio, SAP Business One is gaining access to more advanced AI capabilities.

One particularly interesting development is Ask AI, which allows users to ask natural-language questions relating to the information they are working with directly within the Web Client.

This is more than simply adding a chatbot to the system.

Ask AI can use selected information and context from the screen to help users find answers, understand information and complete tasks more efficiently. For example, a user reviewing sales orders could ask AI to summarise selected information or help interpret details without having to manually compile everything themselves.

This opens up opportunities for faster access to information and improved productivity, particularly for businesses managing large volumes of transactions and operational data.

Moving Towards Intelligent Automation with SAP Joule Work

Looking further ahead, SAP is also progressing plans to connect SAP Business One with SAP Joule Work, its AI-powered interface designed to help users interact with business systems and automate processes. The potential here is significant. Imagine being able to ask your business system to carry out an action, such as: “Can you please deliver this sales order for me?”

Rather than navigating multiple screens and completing each step manually, the longer-term ambition is for AI-powered tools to interpret requests and help execute business processes, subject to the appropriate permissions and controls.

While this functionality is still part of the future development direction for SAP Business One, it demonstrates how SAP is moving beyond AI-assisted reporting towards practical business automation.

Better Reporting, Integration and Development Capabilities

Alongside AI, SAP continues to enhance the core functionality and technical foundations of Business One. Dynamic reporting within the Web Client is being expanded, making it easier for users to work with business information and gain useful insights without switching between multiple systems.

There have also been significant improvements in the areas of integration, extensibility and development. SAP is moving towards more modern development approaches, including low-code, no-code and AI-assisted development tools.

The use of Model Context Protocol (MCP) server connections also creates opportunities for developers to build and integrate new functionality more efficiently, while continuing to follow SAP best practices.

For customers, these developments should make it easier to extend SAP Business One, connect with other business applications and adapt the solution as their requirements change.

Stronger Security, Microsoft Integration and Cloud Readiness

Behind the more visible improvements, SAP is also investing in the underlying technology that supports Business One.

Key areas of ongoing development include:

  • Enhanced security: Plans for improved user authentication, including stronger user access controls, account binding and two-factor authentication.
  • Microsoft 365 integration: Continued improvements to integration with Microsoft applications, including SharePoint.
  • Cloud readiness: Further platform enhancements to support stability, modern technologies and cloud deployment.
  • Simplified development: More efficient approaches to building, maintaining and integrating additional functionality.

While some of these capabilities remain on the roadmap, they are important developments that will help ensure SAP Business One continues to meet modern business and security requirements.

Looking Ahead to SAP Business One Version 11

Another important update from the summit was the continued progress towards SAP Business One Version 11, with its first release currently planned for 2027.

Version 11 represents a significant next step in the development of the platform, bringing together improvements in cloud management, deployment, security, integration and the underlying technology. Combined with the ongoing evolution of the Web Client and AI functionality, it should provide an even stronger foundation for future development.

The message from SAP was clear: Business One is not standing still. Considerable investment is being made to modernise the solution and ensure it continues to meet the needs of growing businesses.

What Does This Mean for SAP Business One Customers?

For existing SAP Business One customers, the developments discussed in Amsterdam provide reassurance that their ERP solution has a positive future and a strong development roadmap. The continued investment in Web Client functionality, AI, reporting and integration should create opportunities to improve how businesses operate and get more value from their existing systems.

For organisations considering a new ERP solution, it reinforces the benefits of choosing a platform that combines established functionality with a clear vision for future innovation.

The overall feeling from the summit was extremely positive. SAP has made substantial progress in bringing Business One forward, aligning it with modern technologies and creating a platform with considerable potential.

It was also a valuable opportunity for our team to connect with SAP specialists and fellow partners, share experiences and gain a better understanding of what lies ahead.
