The Ulster Grand Prix
The Ulster Grand Prix IT Infrastructure moves up a gear with FUEL
The Ulster Grand Prix
The UGP organising team is made up of volunteers that are willing to give an enormous amount of their time and enthusiasm and are the main reason for the event’s success over the years. It was now time to look at the operations in the background and that included the IT Infrastructure. It was time to formalise the IT systems that would be needed to the UGP at the top of Northern Irelands motorbike racing events in the UK.
#01THE CHALLENGE
Having worked with Geoff in the past, he knew who best to contact to provide a more stable and professional IT Infrastructure, not just for the annual UGP Race Week in August, something needed to be in place throughout the year. Organising such a world renowned event is a 12 month exercise. Key stakeholders where being engaged with through private PC’s, eMail accounts and information on different aspects of the UGP and data were held randomly on Volunteers hard drives throughout the country. During race week and on race day itself, the smooth running of various functions with uncertainty of the volunteers laptop PC’s was starting to cause concern.
#02KEY BUSINESS BENEFITS
The hardware and software FUEL provided encouragement to further and develop the growing brand of the Ulster Grand Prix which has taken significant strides forward over that last number of years. FUEL has also provided strategic IT advice to the organisers on the new ‘David Wood Ulster Grand Prix House’ and in restructuring the organisers e-Mail platform which is now fully live and operational.
#03SOLUTION
The equipment supplied was used in the official race control room and corporate area providing access to race information and forming the backbone of the communications network surrounding the race. To ensure seamless integration and running of systems, FUEL provided support engineers on-site to deal with any support enquiries for the duration of the Grand Prix. As the event’s official IT partner, FUEL’s experts take the lead advising on the deployment of technology to gain the best possible functionality for the organising staff, corporate guests and the riders competing in the UGP.
We look forward every year to working with such a dynamic and forward thinking IT partner as FUEL. The consultancy, advice and technology FUEL provide to the Ulster Grand Prix organisation, is a tremendous support for the team, who work hard behind the scenes, to make sure the event runs smoothly.
