The growing complexity of malicious actions, data loss due to technical IT glitches, or other environmental factors underlines the significance of having a robust backup system. This is essential for preventing data loss and enabling swift recovery, should such an event occur.

Managed Backup

Irrespective of the size of your organisation it is necessary to have clearly established policies and procedures for data management. You need to have a system in place with the ability to backup and recover individual files, application data, folders or complete virtual servers if needed. When considering a backup solution, it is important to ensure that the backup data is immutable from the source data, so that cascade encryption or corruption is not possible. Backup data should also be encrypted to prevent access to unauthorised parties.

Cloud & Local

Similarly, it is important to ensure that Cloud based applications (such as Microsoft 365) have a system in place to ensure data held there is backed up, and immutable from the source. It is important to understand that whilst Microsoft replicate data they hold within the MS 365 system, they do not provide a backup to enable recovery of files in the event they were to be corrupted or deleted (either by accident or on purpose).

We work with several partners, to provide strong backup and recovery solutions and are an Altaro Silver Backup partner. We can offer advice and discuss the options available to implement a robust solution to backup both on-site company data, and Microsoft 365 cloud located data, to ensure recovery is possible, should the worst happen. We also work with other partners to provide strong backup and recovery solutions.

The following automated technologies are available:

• Full Daily Backup of on-site Microsoft Virtual Server Machines using Altaro VM Backup application, to local multiple Network Storage locations. This can be augmented with removable USB disk off-site copy’s (encrypted for security), to ensure recovery is possible in a worst-case scenario.
• Full VM Backup to Cloud hosted location – immutable from main system data and encrypted for security.
• FUEL Cloud Backup – Standard file / folder backup to Secure Cloud Location for specific server folders and / or and PC hosted data – immutable from main system and encrypted for security.
• FUEL Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 – this is a cloud located system, which provides a backup (multiple daily snapshots) of all Microsoft Mailboxes and Teams / OneDrive / SharePoint information for the client Microsoft 365 estate.
• FUEL can monitor and manage on your behalf all of the above technologies, pending the solution & support chosen.
